About me:
We ride on the last Friday of every month. We meet at 6:30pm in Government Center. Bring your bike and your friends with bikes!

We are not the 2nd Saturday of the month 10am Emerge Miami / Meetup Group Critical Mass.

Who I'd like to meet:
Critical Mass is an event typically held on the last Friday of every month in cities around the world where bicyclists and, less frequently, unicyclists, skateboarders, inline skaters, roller skaters and other self-propelled commuters take to the streets en masse. While the ride was originally founded with the idea of drawing attention to how unfriendly the city was to bicyclists, the leaderless structure of Critical Mass makes it impossible to assign it any one specific goal. In fact, the purpose of Critical Mass is not formalized beyond the direct action of meeting at a set location and time and traveling as a group through city or town streets.

The Story Behind the Name

"The name "Critical Mass" is taken from Ted White's 1992 documentary film about bicycling, "Return of the Scorcher". In the film, George Bliss describes a typical scene in China, where cyclists often cannot cross intersections because there is automobile cross-trafic and no traffic lights. Slowly, more and more cyclists amass waiting to cross the road, and when there is a sufficient number of them -- a critical mass, as Bliss called it -- they are able to all move together with the force of their numbers to make cross traffic yield while they cross the road."

I Am Your Villain & Loose Cannons on the Run is at it again! We’re doing something a little different this time. This Wednesday, December 3rd, it’s a Bike Basel Poker Run - Best hand wins the race.
It's going to be an already determined path to PS14. Here's the schedule below:
Riders meet at Free Spirits Lounge (located at Collins & 21st Street) at 11:00pm - AFTER the Yelle concert, which is at Collins Park.
You receive your first card and ride out at 11:30pm
Then you make your way to Deuce Bar (222 14th St, Miami Beach, FL 33139) and get your next card.
At 12:00am, we leave Deuce Bar and ride down washington to Lincoln rd and from there go to Purdy (1811 Purdy Ave). At Purdy, you get 2 cards.
After that, everyone goes down to PS14 to receive your last card.
The person with the best hand wins the race and the $50 bar tab.

$1 beers for bike riders from 10-12.

Day Trip to Immokalee, Florida with Seed305

Seed305, a workshop series providing a space for connecting politics, our lives and activism, is hosting a day trip to Immokalee to visit the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW). The CIW is a community-based worker organization whose members are largely Latino, Haitian, and Mayan Indian immigrants working in low-wage jobs throughout Florida. The organization has seen major successes, including an historical agreement with Taco Bell, Burger King and McDonalds.

Join us in learning more about the CIW and their amazing work!
Saturday September 6, leaving at 9am.

In Immokalee, we'll:
-Learn about the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, their history, working conditions and campaigns.
-Do a walking tour of the trailer parks where workers live.
-Visit their amazing radio station and community center.

RSVP to seed305@gmail.com by Tuesday September 2nd. Please let us know if you can drive.
